September 22, 2018: The CAD (Canadian Association of the Deaf) hosts a nationwide rally at the Legislative buildings in most provincial capital cities across Canada for the official recognition of ASL, LSQ, and Indigenous Sign Language.
Video: Poetry performance in ASL by Jolanta Lapiak, September 22, 2018 at the Legislative Building in Edmonton, Canada. Thanks to Cathy Ferchau for the video recording.
While the weather was warm in other Canadian provincial capital cities, it was chilly and snowing in Edmonton. It's very unusual for snowing in September in Edmonton, just so you know. :) Nevertheless, we still showed up and rallied.
At the near end of the rally after other series of brief presentations, this poetry performance cheered up with a closing. Prior to this performance art, I instructed the audience to sign RECOGNIZE every time I signed the double word RECOGNIZE.
